JUNO Fest
Downtown Toronto became one giant venue as 20 clubs scattered throughout the area came alive for 2 nights, hosting over 100 artists, many of which are either Juno winners or nominees. Naturally with that many artists it’s impossible to list all the talent featured in those two nights, but it truly was a feast for any music fan, as the list covered various genres and musical styles. Such artists as:
Bedouin Soundclash – Group of the Year Juno winner 2006
Die Mannequin – previously featured in The PORTAL
Hannah Georgas – 2011 New Artist Nominee
Harlan Pepper – featuring son of Canadian music icon, Tom Wilson
Jim Byrnes – 2011 Blues Album of the Year Juno Winner
Meaghan Smith – 2011 New Artist of the Year Juno Winner
Said The Whale – 2011 New Group of the Year Juno winner and previously featured in The PORTAL
The Johnstones – previously featured in The PORTAL
A standout for The PORTAL was Toronto’s The Birthday Massacre. Knowing of them for sometime, but never experiencing them live before, we were truly left with our jaws planted firmly on the floor of The Opera House as The Birthday Massacre rocked, leaving us stunned!
