The talent at the Coca-Cola Stage has been solid over the past three nights, and we still have another seven to go till this year’s Stampede is in the books.
Last night was, I think, the craziest yet!
With a severe thunderstorm warning issued, and strong winds blasting through the entire park, music fans gathered in front of the open-air venue stage. I had a little chuckle to myself as I overheard one young lady say to another, ‘ready to get EMO?’ That pretty much described what the evening’s live music will be.
Though openers, .moneen.’s sound is considered to be Indie-Rock, Alternative, EMO, I have to say, they make EMO fun. With a high-energy punk sound, running through the crowd, flipping over barriers, and whipping the crowd into a joyful, music-filled frenzy, the quintet from Brampton, Ontario arrived to conquer the Stampede, and take no prisoners. Their performance was a perfect fit to the wild weather leading up to their set.
Main act, Florida’s, Dashboard Confessional hit the stage with “Don’t Wait” from their 2006 release, Dusk and Summer. Their 45-minute set consisted of various hits from their seven studio albums, including 3 tracks from their newest release, Crooked Shadows.
I have always been a fan of their rich, melodic sound. There is a maturity and depth to their music, even though the subject matter can be a little dark.
Buckle up music fans, night #4 is next, and who knows what that will bring!
