The Greg Golden Band … What can I say.  First and foremost, and on a personal level I want to say that Greg is a genuine soul and one amazing guitarist. He’s got a knack of getting rock stars to gravitate towards him because of his uncanny ability to create music as well develop relationships needed keep to a band together.  I was invited to watch GGB perform for the first time at the newly built Hard Rock Casino in Lake Tahoe with front man Paul Holdgate (Heist & Excalibur) bringing on board an 80’s style set of chops belting it out with great stage presence. Dynamic and commanding lead guitars by Greg Golden followed with heavy, hard and stylish rhythms of Jeff Montgomery, guitar instructor at “Bizarre Guitars” (that happens to be owned by Greg Golden). Bassist Larry Hart (King Cobra & The Haze Experience) and drummer Steve Brown (Oleander) rounds out and carries the GGB overall rock grove and vibe.

Ironically, the GGB has two continuous front-men as I witnessed the second show at the Rockbar Theater, in Reno, NV.  Randy Scoles, noted mostly for his dominating vocals for the rock group Montrose, as well the Frank Hannon Band and Bad Motor Scooter (who I’ve done a review for by the way).  Randy brings a whole new dimension of rock to the GGB with a beautiful vocal range and a genuine heartfelt connection with the audience of true professionalism.  So having said, it’s kinda strange … But it works and their fans don’t lie with their combined 150,000 plus followers and sell-outs at just about every show.  What’s cool about having two front-men is the collective diversity and comradery between all members … I mean it just isn’t done, but Golden likes breaking the rules … Performing out of the box is something Greg excels at and it’s shows when their on stage with either front-man, or even a show with both present.  The bottom line is that they deliver a show that the fans want to see … This is what matters, this is what music is about, this is The Greg Golden Band !!!
