After four decades, twenty-two albums from their debut in 1978, not including eight live albums, and ten compilation albums, Saga, Canada’s champions of progressive rock, are playing their final tour.
Thankfully for their fans, the Grey Eagle Resort was one of two remaining dates the band would play in their farewell tour, which moves on to Germany. Then one final show in Belieze, before the band closed the doors on a career that is truly second to no other Canadian band.
No opener, 100% Saga, but that is what the crowd wanted. Michael Sadler’s vocal performance was flawless, and one cannot see a tighter performance than this band. The crowd was singing along and standing in their seats by the second song, as Sadler would point to the crowd to sing along during “On the Loose.”
The show was a fantastic night as the band played all the songs that Saga fans expected, concluding the night with the song that saw the most success for the group worldwide in “Wind Him Up.”
Normally this is where I say next time make sure to catch a show and you won’t be disappointed. In this case I simply want to say thank you.
Thank you, Saga, for the years of music, and a collection of songs that we will continue to sing along with.
